A Look Back at 2014, + Resolutions for 2015

I remember sitting down this time last year and writing my resolutions for 2014. There I was, sitting in front of the TV in an apartment in Columbus, with 7 month old Kokoro curled up by my feet. My website looks massively different then, with only a few “thoughts” published live — I wouldn’t have dared to called them “blog posts.”

My resolutions for 2014 were simple:

1. Finish strong in school.
2. Blog more.
3. Travel more.
4. Take more photos.
5. Enjoy all of the above as much as I can.

As you can maybe tell, I’ve never really been the type to set resolutions. Those resolutions barely counted as sentences, much less acted as guides as I went into my final year in undergrad.

Sitting here now, again in front of my TV with Kokoro curled up near my feet, things have changed immensely since this time last year. There’s now a Chibi added into the family, who spends most of her time laying as close to me as is possible (including on top of the laptop keyboard when getting my attention is necessary). I’m no longer in Columbus, Ann Arbor, or Michigan for that matter. My 1000 followers on Instagram that I was genuinely ecstatic about have now grown to 80,000+, something I would have never imagined in any lifetime.

Taking a look back at my photos from 2014, it’s been a whirlwind of happy memories and photos from all over.

For 2015, I’m ending up writing a very similar list. Short but sweet.

1. Blog more. Seriously though, this one fell by the wayside a bit last year.
2. Read more. My dad always told me that reading would make me a better writer, and he was right.
3. Take better photos. There’s always room to improve.
4. Travel to new places. Take more road trips. And take lots of photos while I’m at it.
5. Enjoy all of the above as much as I can.

As for Kokoro, she wants to chew more. I know that’s always her resolution. She could chew and chew for weeks on end, and be the happiest pup in the world. And Chibi, use her legs more. Seriously, she’s on her back more than she is on her paws. We’ll see where we end up this time next year. To a great 2015!
