Dessert Goals

Let it be known that June 17 will forever be the #UltimateCheatDay of 2017. Yes, today we woke up, drove downtown with the pups in tow, and had dessert… for breakfast.

Our friends who organized LA’s first Dessert Goals event invited us to come by today and check out their assortment of sweet treats.

Thankfully, there was a salt bar where we could cleanse our palates between sweets. As someone who always has to alternate between salty and sweet, this idea was genius.

Kokoro & Chibi came with and romped around the totally insta-worthy decor set up at the event. Located in the Cooper Design Space downtown, there couldn’t have been a better spot for people to come by and snap cute photos of even cuter desserts!

Consisting of about 30 vendors, it was sadly pretty impossible for us to try a bite from everyone at the dessert festival. Below are some highlights from today’s indulgences!

Macarons from Honey & Butter

Hands down my favorite bite from the day. And dare I say… my favorite macarons ever? Yes, in my opinion, even better than Ladurée. They’re almost too cute to eat, but when I bit into the s’mores macaron and found the perfect combination of airy marshmallow and crunchy graham cracker, I died a little bit and went to heaven.

Donut Sundae from LA Donut

Donuts smothered with ice cream and toppings that would satisfy any sweet tooth. “OMG!” is right.

Acai Bowl from Amazebowls

We’d already tried these almost-too-pretty-to-eat acai bowls at Smorgasburg earlier this year, but it’s always great to see a favorite again.

Fabergé Eggs from The Peninsula Hotel

Chef Stephanie Boswell from this Beverly Hills hotel crafted a dessert that looks like an elevated easter egg. Its hand-painted shell is actually made of chocolate. Inside you’ll find a delightfully surprising take on PB&J: peanut butter mousse, raspberry jam, peanut butter cream, and chantilly. Can you say YUM?!

Candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar

At this station, we were all given a small Dessert Goals bucket to fill with whatever candy we’d like. Can’t go wrong with Swedish Fish and gummy bears!

Kettle Corn from Kettle Me Up

You can’t go wrong with freshly popped kettle corn. We tried one of their classic, slightly sweet flavors and a savory furikake mix too!

Conchas & Cream from Puesto

The colors on these things! Puesto teamed up with gelato makers Bobboi to create a unicorn profiterole concha, filled with horchata milk and cereal ice cream. Yum!

Mango Sticky Rice & Panna Cotta from Little Sweet Place

I’ve tried their Mango Sticky Rice sold in cute little mason jars at Mainland Poké and fell in love at first bite. We were lucky enough to get another sample today and try another one of their creations, a passion fruit panna cotta that was absolutely delicious too!

Cupcakes from Wild Bakes & Cakes

Decadent cupcakes topped with super cute decor. They’re available vegan too!

Chocolate Chip Cookie from Milk Jar Cookies

Have you heard that Milk Jar has the best cookies in LA? I’ve heard this in passing multiple times and after trying their cookies, I have to agree. Their cookies come in tons of fun, unconventional flavors that you can’t always find at your average bakery.

Scones from Sugarbird Sweets

Scones that were the perfect amount of sweet and moist. Nothing dry about these at all.

Chimney Cakes from Sweet n’ Hollow

Hollow logs filled with ice cream. Only wish I actually got a sample of these to try… one of the only vendors that didn’t seem to welcome me with Kokoro & Chibi by my side. They certainly look cool though!

For beverages, the event was stocked with almond Milk & Juice from Califia Farms and boxes of water (what a weird thing to say!) from Boxed Water.

All in all, we had a super sugary start to our day. I think I’ve had my fill of desserts for the rest of the year ?

Big thanks again to our friends at Dessert Goals for having us at today’s partay!
