Glamping in the Mojave Desert
This weekend went by in what seems like the blink of an eye. We just returned from a couple days of camping glamping in the Mojave Desert with Kokoro and Chibi (both of whom are currently happily ptfo at my feet). We said our goodbyes to the beautiful Encanto Cabin this morning, but thankfully I have tons of photos to remember our weekend by.
Only a few hours west of LA lies a landscape covered with desert sand and prickly cacti. A quick roadtrip on the 10 freeway led us to our cabin, located just north of Joshua Tree National Park.
Upon arrival, we spotted a cute yellow cabin and vintage trailer within a completely fenced plot of land that Kokoro & Cheebs were itching to be let loose in to explore. We did a quick check for rattlesnakes before letting the pups roam free on the property. (People kept warning us about these rattlesnakes but we luckily didn’t run into a single one during our entire trip!)
In addition to the fencing of the entire property, there was a smaller fenced area that went around the house’s “backyard” that the dogs could safely roam in while we were away.
One of my favorite features of our weekend accommodation was this cute white and yellow trailer! It serves as a standalone bedroom and add-on rental to the property when staying with parties of 3 or more. Not only does it add charm and functionality to the property, it once served as Lucille Ball’s dressing room back in the day!
Greeting us at the front door was this quirky little statue of a pup. Cheebs gave him a quick sniff before readying herself to explore the inside of the cabin.
Let me just say that if I lived in a studio-style house, this is exactly how I would want it set up! Divided by a sleek black dresser, one side of the cabin was dedicated for sleep, and the other for food. The building was designed perfectly with windows on each of its walls and near the ceiling to let in maximum sunshine.
Every corner of the house was accented by a pop of warm color. The vibrant decor definitely added some fun and charisma to the hot and dry setting we were in, and the cabin definitely felt super homey!
We took advantage of the fire pit and charcoal grill for dinner on our first evening there as the sun set over the desert. After a long drive, there’s nothing more satisfactory than munching on some bacon-wrapped asparagus and yakitori style chicken thighs!
We were lucky enough to catch both the sunrise AND sunset during our time at the Encanto, and the views couldn’t have been more glorious.
Big thanks to our friends at Glamping With Pets for setting us up with these amazing accommodations this weekend! Kokoro & Chibi had a blast exploring the Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree, and we’ll definitely be glamping with you guys again in the future.
We’re giving away a $200 gift card good towards a reservation with Glamping With Pets on Instagram. Don’t forget to check out Glamping Hub’s pet-friendly reservation site to book your own adventure with your pup!
