Good Eats in Austin
Having recently returned from a trip to Austin for SXSW Interactive, I thought I’d jot down and share some of my favorite spots from the trip. I had never been to Austin before this, and only been to Texas one other time previously. But I’ve got to say… Austin is delightful!
From the cute boutique stores to the sight of stringed lights outside of every restaurant, this city gave off such a fun and quirky vibe that totally drew me in. If ever you have a chance to visit, definitely stop by some of these places if you can!
Chuy’s
A cute little Tex-Mex restaurant with the most delicious margaritas! It’s got a funky atmosphere and art style that feels totally Austin.
Chi’lantro Food Truck
Okay, I have to admit I never got to actually order from this place. The reason? The line was just way too long to stand out in the sun for, especially during SXSW when thousands of people flock to these “must-eat” food trucks. I did stand outside and think about how delicious those famous Kimchi fries hypothetically would be… if only I had the chance to actually eat them. If you go, do scout out this truck and let me know how delicious the food was that I missed. :(
Sway
Literally the most adorable Thai place I’ve ever been to. Also literally the spiciest Thai place I’ve ever been to. We ate family style, and shared a ton of dishes that were so so good, but also made us nearly cry.
Elizabeth Street Cafe
Okay, hands down this is my favorite food spot from my entire trip in Austin. It’s a cute little Vietnamese-French fusion place with adorable pastries and delicious brunch food. What else could I ask for?
With food being a primary motivator when I’m traveling, I definitely need to come back to Austin soon to eat my way through more of the city!
