Dreaming of Chicken & Waffles

It’s been a good Saturday filled with some seriously good eats. Our friends from the LA Tourism Board @dineLA invited us to enjoy some delicious food as a part of their first Restaurant Week of 2017. We had the pleasure of being a part of both of LA’s restaurant weeks last year. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since our first visit to a dineLA pick has passed!

This time, we picked Plan Check Kitchen & Bar located on Sawtelle. So many of my friends have told me amazing things about Plan Check, touting their burger as the absolute best in Los Angeles. PLUS, their patio is dog friendly, so be sure to bring your fluffy friend if you’d like to!

As a part of Plan Check’s restaurant week menu, every meal started off with a Spicy Crab & Crisp Shallot Deviled Egg. The flavors were so carefully balanced and this little bite was the perfect way to start off our meal.

On the side, we got Carnitas Fries that were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and topped with a delicious pork and queso fresco medley. I chose the Kalbi Beef Salad for my entree – so yummy – but the highlight of all the dishes was definitely the Chicken & Waffles.

Hands down the BEST Chicken & Waffles I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve had my fair share of Chicken & Waffles. The breading was so crisp and crunchy, providing a perfect combination of texture with the sweet waffle drizzled in maple syrup. Salted walnuts and candy butter added to the play on texture and flavors. I’m STILL dreaming about this dish and will continue to do so until I can have it again!

Restaurant week ends on January 27 so make sure to stop by one of the many options you have at an amazing dining experience!
