LA Restaurants: Chego

We visited Chinatown this past weekend and discovered another little gem of a restaurant: Chego!

Nestled into a small spot around the corner from Bauhaus and Howlin Ray’s this restaurant is actually one of Roy Choi’s genius creations. The original Chego used to be located in Palms, and a few years back, transplanted to the mini walking mall in Chinatown.

We tried the Chubby Pork Belly bowl, topped with perfectly caramelized pork belly, asian greens that brought me back to my childhood, and a delicious medley of pan-asian flavors, from fried shallotsto gochujang.

For dessert, we tried the Pina Krakalada, a twist on mango sticky rice. The hot dessert was sweet and had the perfect balance of tangy pineapple and sweet sauce.

Definitely worth a try if you are in the area! Downtown’s Chinatown definitely has a food scene that’s growing and worth a visit.
