Highlights of O’ahu
We took a trip to Hawaii over the long weekend, and boy was it beautiful! Here are just a few things you should definitely put on your list if you’re visiting O’ahu.
Brunch at Sweet E’s Cafe
When it comes to food near Waikiki, there are surprisingly generic options to choose from. Sweet E’s Cafe is very close to the main tourist area if that’s where you’re visiting, but has delicious brunch and Hawaiian fusion food served all day.
Snorkel at Hanauma Bay
Located on the southeast coast of the island, Hanauma Bay is a beautiful little spot perfect for laying on white sandy beaches and snorkeling with tropical fish in the bay.
You’ll have to watch a safety video before entering the bay that will inform you about protecting the marine life.
Protip: avoid snorkeling during low tide. There are huge populations of sea urchins in the coral, so make sure you leave enough space between you and the marine life to prevent either you or the creatures from getting hurt!
Scuba Dive with the Hawaiian Honu
We went with Reef Pirates and had an amazing time. You don’t have to be certified to dive, but the dive shop will run you through an abridged overview of scuba diving and equip you with the necessary equipment and knowledge to enjoy a relaxed, guided swim with some beautiful marine life.

We saw quite a few Hawaiian Honu (sea turtles) and I even rubbed Buddha’s belly for good luck.
Sadly we were only in Hawaii for a couple of days, but definitely itching to get scuba certified and come back to explore the other islands soon!
